This week’s photo challenge is Future Tense. Click here to see what the future holds for others.
I’ve been thinking a lot about my future recently. Now that I’m more settled in the UK, I’m trying to make decisions about where my life is going and what my next adventure will be. Some of my goals are long term, some are achievable this year. Heck, some might not ever happen at all. I’m moving towards them all, though, and it’s oneΒ rollercoaster of a ride.
For five years I got to do the job that I dreamed of as a child – I worked seasons abroad as a holiday rep. Not many people can say they got the career of their dreams. I know how lucky I am, but it also makes it harder to move on. In my future I will find another career that I love just as much as repping, and that will give me the same fulfillment.
I will continue to develop my writing, and allow myself the time to stop, have a coffee and really write.
I will continue to travel and visit all the places that I want to visit. Every time I look at this photo, it reminds me that if I can make it to the Grand Canyon I can make it anywhere.
My future is plant-based. I’ve learnt so much about diet and health over the past 18 months, and I will pay that forward and show others the benefits of living plant-based so we can save our species.
I will continue to challenge myself and try new activities. By opening myself up to new experiences I gain more options and make many new friends.
The future brings uncertainty, but it also brings hope. My life could have taken many different paths. The one I took was determined by thousands of decisions I have made and others have made for me over the past 32 years. Whichever direction I head in next, you can be sure I’ll share the adventure with you.
Wonderful thoughtful post! I remember having lots I these thoughts in my twenties and then again after the crazy years of childbirth again in my late thirties. Now I finally feel satisfied to be on the path I’ve always dreamed of but I still like to reflect and set goals for myself. π
Thanks Nicole. I never thought my life would end up like it has, but I don’t regret anything and I’m excited for my future π
Wonderful! π Me too!
You’ve definitely got the right spirit. Approaching the future with an eye to “what my next adventure will be” is the ticket. Great post π
Thank you, it makes life interesting too π
Great post! You’re doing a fine job with your life :-). Alaska is amazing but you need to add New Zealand to your list!!!
New Zealand is actually really high on my list! I’ve travelled with a few Kiwis in the past, and they think I’d really like it there π
It’s fantastic. And so compact you can see and do it all! Hiking, glaciers, beaches, fjords, bungee jumping–an adventurers paradise!
I’m not too sure about the bungee jumping but New Zealand definitely sounds amazing. I’ll get there one day. I’d love to spend a good few weeks there so I could experience as much as possible.
I love this look at your future in all these different aspects. I wish you fun in them all! π
Thank you, I can’t wait to see what adventure is next around the corner π
This is such an optimistic forward looking post, it made me smile π doing what you love is definitely the key to a fulfilled life, with lots of surprising turns along the way. Staying open to these surprises is what I challenge myself to do everyday!
Thanks, it’s definitely more interesting to have an open mind π
I love your photos and your goals. The photo of you at the Grand Canyon is great. I’ve hiked halfway down and back up two times. I don’t know whether I have a third in me. I going to follow your blog. Thanks for liking my color photo. I like yours too.
Thank you. I’d love to hike down the Grand Canyon someday. When I visited we only had one day, so not enough time to hike to the bottom unfortunately π¦
